恶毒的地主经常欺负阿龙，但卖身契在地主手里，阿龙没有办法离开，只能默默地忍受着。
地主早就看出了阿龙的心思。一天，他对阿龙说：“要是你能回答我三个问题，我就把卖身契还给你。但如果答不上来，你就得一辈子给我干活。”
“没问题！”地主认为这些问题阿龙一定答不出来，便一口答应了。
村民们到场后，地主指着两个姑娘说：“她们中有一个是哑巴，你猜，是哪一个？”
阿龙看了她们一眼，猛地从腰间拔出一把尖刀，一个姑娘害怕得叫出了声，而另一个姑娘只是惊慌地躲到了一旁。
“她是哑巴！”阿龙指着躲到一旁的姑娘说。
地主又叫来两个男孩，指着他们说：“他们中有一个是聋子，你猜，是哪一个？”
阿龙围着两个男孩转了几圈，突然在他们背后大喊一声，其中一个男孩吓得跳了起来，另一个却呆呆的，一动也不动。
“他是聋子！”阿龙指着那个一动不动的男孩说。
最后，地主让人牵来两只一模一样的山羊，问阿龙：“哪只是老羊？哪只是小羊？”
阿龙仔细地打量了一下，拿出腰间的鞭子，把两只羊赶到小溪边，一只羊蹚着水就过去了，另一只却一直往后退，阿龙指着往后退的这只羊说：“它是小羊，过溪的那只是老羊！”原来，老羊经常蹚过小溪吃草，所以不怕水，而小羊过溪的次数很少，一定会怕水。
地主当着所有村民的面，不敢抵赖，只好把卖身契还给了阿龙。
