●Ebook. A total totalitarianism does not make you obey; they make you truly believe in them. And if you truly believe in them, why would you ever feel unhappy under their ruling? Why would you want to seek freedom? Why do you say that your life now is not free? When they say it's free, then you believe it's free. It's all about the mind. Love the BB

●A remarkble prophecy with extremly depressed atmosphere and great vision. Very wisdomus. Not a fan of his style but admire him as a reporter.

●We shall meet where there is no darkness

【Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood】

In a way, the world-view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening.

Indeed, so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison, they never even become aware that they are oppressed.

His function is to act as a focusing point for love, fear, and reverence, emotions which are more easily felt towards an individual than towards an organization.

They can be granted intellectual liberty because they have no intellect.

erhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood.

We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it.

How does one man assert his power over another, Winston?

  y making him suffer

Did Winston love Big Brother in the end?

In his renowned novel 1984, George Orwell presents a society similar to, yet in essence, vastly different from the totalitarian states in history. In a sense, Ingsoc might be the paragon, the quintessential embodiment of what these states have tried, or in the case of North Korea, are trying to achieve.

I do not have the time or even the intellect to go into the political aspect of this novel. I would like to touch upon just one point of debate in this novel: did Winston really love Big Brother in the end?

My answer to this question is positive. However, one cannot understand "love" in the ending sentence of the novel "He loved Big Brother" as the same love that existed between Winston and Julia. The attachment between the "couple" before their imprisonment is what we commonly understand as "love" today.

Recall that O'Brien, representative of the Party, said that "We create human nature". Hence, they create emotions and could name it whatever they would like. The use of the word "love" after Winston's "reeducation" merely refers to an emotion created by the Party. We could never truly gauge the true feelings of Winston, yet whatever they might be, the Party has defined them as "love".
