  《Mastery》读后感(一):认真生活体验

  选择一种方式,无论对错。

  从一点一滴可以做的开始练习,日复一日,直至精湛。

  继续尝试新的挑战,再从一点一滴开始练习,日复一日,直至精湛。

  如此往复,直至死亡。

  这本书读完差不多三个月了,是精读并比较好地运用在了行动中的一本书。

  最开始读的动机准备开始锻炼身体,但自己对体育可以说是一无所知,所以想看一下从体育方面证“道”的人的看法

  但这三个月来我觉得对我有很大帮助的几点是:

  第一、mastery的第一个要素就是自己打算做一辈子的事情,如果仅仅只是为了得到什么,而不是打算用这种方式来度过这一辈子,那么就不必把mastery当作目标,不然从事这项活动对自己精神意志力折磨就不值得了。

  这句话说来简单听来也很老调,但如果用来验证自己生活中的很多选择,就会发现生活越来越简单。

  TW,我不觉得dabbler是一个不好状态,只要自己明确本来就是玩玩放松调剂而已。

  第二、是作者总结的mastery那条“风点头”的曲线。本来读的时候,我是持反对意见的,当时我认为螺旋式上升更好地描述事物发展状态。但在这三个月里,我越来越发现他的这个风点头,反而对实践指导意义大。每次遇到挫折的时候,可以冷静分析是不是平台期,是不是高潮后的小退潮;而突破之后也能很冷静地对待进步与预期短暂的退步。

  第三、是作者提到的mastery其中一个要素:人。这一点让我在学习过程中开始系统规划“人”这个的因素

  第四、是mastery的反馈机制体力与脑力运动的反馈方式,也就是快速反馈和延迟反馈的结合,对学习过程起到决定性的推进作用

  《Mastery》读后感(二):练习与享乐

  主要记下两点:

  1. 商业社会对待幸福和练习的态度, 及作者的看法.

  2. 好的练习 (mastery) 是怎样的.

  商业社会宣传这样一种价值观: 幸福与"享乐"等价, 进而与"消费"等价. 以广告为例, 其中人表现出的幸福(快乐, 满足感, 和睦家庭等等)都源于某种商品, 进而源于消费行为. 这样的社会环境下, 我们的逻辑被塑造成: 幸福<-消费<-挣钱. 这便是现代社会对于幸福的态度.

  而对于挣钱(相当于工作, 练习)的态度, 环境的回答是: 社会不管你怎么挣钱, 有钱就行.

  而作者对此不认同: "Life at its best, these commercials teach, is an endless series of climatic moments." (商业告诉我们, 好的人生是一个接着一个的高潮(消费)). 经历告诉我们, 这样的高潮不能连续, 其带来短时刺激同时, 也带来空虚. 那幸福从何而来? 消费之外, 更多的幸福来自于练习 (practice, work).

  quot;The achievement of goals is important. But the real juice of life, whether it be sweet or bitter, is to be found not nearly so much in the product of out efforts as in the process of living itself, in how it feels to be alive."

  生活中让我们 feel alive 的部分更多的是在我们的 effort 中, 而不是 effort 带来的结果中. 因此, 练习的目的就是练习本身: "Practicing regularly and hard for no particular goal at all, just for its own sake." 练习中最大的收获也是练习本身: "The ultimate reward is not a gold medal but the path itself."

  对 mastery 的态度: "If our life is a good one, a life of mastery, most of it will be spent on the plateau." 即 mastery 中更多的时间是在平台期 (plateau). "Mastery is not about perfection." "The master is the one who is willing to try, and fail, and try again, for as long as he or she lives." 故 master 在练习中也犯错, 犯错后继续练习. "The master is the one who stays on the path day after day, year after year." 持之以恒.

  《Mastery》读后感(三):Barely nothing new yet good to review

  George Leonard is probably a master of Aikido, and this has explained why he tried to express almost each of his key points in terms of Aikido. This very eastern Zen style of telling truth via stories would possibly affect rather number of westerns, yet it is not unfamiliar to Chinese who has read plenty of martial art novels from quite young age. Therefore, while reading the book, I cannot help feeling being told of stories that merely suitable for kindergarden children.

  In this thin little guidance book, the author expressed the opinions about studying and learning rather meticulously while comprehensively . He has addressed the guidelines in a manner of telling a mystery even though a wisdom person could sooner or later summarized him or herself. However, he did successfully point out the most significant keys, pitfalls and process of achieving mastery, although by doing this, the author verbosely expanded an exciting essay to a 192 pages slightly disappointing book. Not all the stories are interesting, especially when they were used when explaining the PATH.

  However, it has to be mentioned that the epilogue told a brilliant story: A western background blended with an eastern spirit that is delicate and inspiring. If the whole book could make the stories as intriguing as this one and the ideas as brief as possible, it would arose less tediousness than the current version I suppose. But in another hand, given the publish year, 1992, an age when China had just moved on to its normal path and the world began to encounter the information and ideology chaos explosion, ere the epoch of internet, the author did provide the world insight of acquiring mastery.

  Although it should not be undervalued in its age, and it should be praised for its honest, earnest and sincere tone, it is still quite old fashioned in today's view.

  《Mastery》读后感(四):Practice, practice, practice.

  想要说的问题大且重要可惜作者笔力太一般,这么短小的篇幅都稍嫌啰嗦了。

  开头几章还算鞭辟入里,后面就有点垮了,讲他当驾驶员教练的那段儿,看得略微快一点都要不知所云了。有些论证也不充分,比如拿名人例子,竟然是靠臆测----‘‘虽然有名利心的驱动,但是他肯定也是享受过程本身的’’ (凭印象翻译

  当然,核心观点是非有价值的。

  这书讲怎样培养意念、怎样应对消极懈怠,怎样超越极限,不过这都比不上讲刻意练习的重要性,讲一种练习的心态

  当你活在Here and now,感受这一秒的全神贯注,聚焦在当下的action----无论是挥拍、按琴键,还是敲一串代码,码一行字。你知道每一秒的练习都有它的意义,并沉浸其中,你就踏上了mastery Journey.

  就如书中所说:You practice diligently, but you practice primarily for the sake of the practice itself.

  在这个将成功打造成一种‘‘连续不断的获得/拥有’’的幻觉的商业社会中,把快乐等同于即时的享受和感官体验的文化中,人们寄希望于彩票,依赖毒品,崇尚快速见效的一切(速效药物,减肥产品),唯独看不到努力的过程本身的价值和回报。因而快乐对他们来说,永远是海市蜃楼。Common unhappiness也就不奇怪了。

  而练习,正是解药。你会感谢这种mindfulness带给你的平静,你会享受心无旁骛和随之而来的充实感,你也会停止盯着你的目标,停止迫不及待。这,就是所谓的耐心----不需要什么意志力。

  我很喜欢《The practicing mind》里的一个比喻,想象你在游泳,目标是远处一个灯塔,你不停的盯着那灯塔看,着急的扑腾,只会呛水至死。只有专注在抬头换气、划臂、打水等等每一个基本的动作上(偶尔看一眼目标,确认大方向正确),你才会,也一定会,到达彼岸。

  抱着一切皆练习的态度,专注于此时此刻,是消除焦虑、停止没意义的急功近利、获得内心和平的关键。你才不会在意什么‘‘平台期’’,这都是那些盯着结果看的人发明的词。

  《Mastery》读后感(五):迈入大师级的殿堂

  A classic statement of aikido's philosophy and its translation to everyday activities.Deeply felt, beautifully written, and filled with insights about our largely hidden potentials. This book will take its place among the great and lasting works about the martial arts in relation to life in general.

  Truth be told, i am the one who the author categorize as "Dabbler"(浅尝辄止者). Every time i approach new sport, new language, or relationship with enormous enthusiam,my enthusiasm qucikly wanes. It seems that there are not the right sport(lanuage, people) for me.I tell everybody that the reason i quit is just it does't fulfill my unique needs.

  This time repeats, and after i finish the <Mastery>,i know i should have a serious reflection for myself insofar as i have disappointed my parents, friends and myself over and over.again.

  Goals and contingencies are important but we should never be excessively goal-oriented. They exist in the future and the past, beyond the pale of the sensory realm.

  There is no quick fix or formula to become a master at something. They just don't work in the long run, and are eventually destructive to us.

  Master is practice. Mastery is staying on the path. We can't just skip the stages. There is a seemingly endless road ahead of you with numerous setbacks along the way.But pratice will help.

  In conclusion,how do we best move toward mastery?

  To put it simply, we pratice diligently, but we practice primarily for the sake of the practice itself.

  Chapter 1

  有一个概念要弄清:plateau,平台期,即心理学上的学习高原,我理解为瓶颈。

  作者把人分成三种:

  1. The dabbler (浅尝辄止者)

  2.The obsessive (M-Tong理解成偏执狂,根据上下文,解成急功近利者更准确)

  3.The hacker (M-Tong理解为骇客,也就是黑客,之前我们要知道一个特征,黑客他们大多是把“黑客”当是一项业余嗜好,通常是出于自己的兴趣,而非为了赚钱或工作需要,知道这个意思就好理解为什么hacker是不在乎是否突破。所以一直处于平台期)

  这三种人都是不可能达到mastery的境界的,而且领域和领域间没有严格的划分,一个人可以在一个领域达到mastery水平,但是另一个领域也就是葛dabbler,这完全有可能

  《Mastery》读后感(六):把事情做到最好,第一不强求天赋,第二不介意起步的早晚,你要做的就是“起步走”并“不停地走”。

  不得不说这个作者很聪明,也很善于讲道理,他居然让我突然间茅塞顿开,这几年没悟明白的道理也渐渐变得清晰了。

  就说那个抬头触摸自己额头的动作,现在让我做的话,的确太容易了,但是在幼年的时候,想做出这个动作则一定会遇到很多挫折,比如首先我得知道额头在哪,还得明白这个命令的准确意思等等,这其中的每一个动作,我都要经过无数次学习和练习才能做到。

  如此简单的事情尚且需要练习,更何况现在遇到的每一件事都比这个动作要艰难得多。所以,我坚定了一个信念:任何事情都不要急于求成,不要焦躁,一切都要静心去做,不会的就学,学了还不会的就多学几次,只要端正心态,努力去做,一定会收获自己满意的结果的。

  《Mastery》读后感(七):Goalless

  [我觉得我打高分的频率越来越低了...

  今年刷书的进度略喜人啊...]

  一本不到200页的小书, 两个星期每天起床后上班前的时间刷完. 如果你是一个已经有志于在某一方面认真钻研并愿意付出>=10年努力的人, 这本书的作用仅仅是一个reminder罢了.

  这本书最精彩的部分是第二章, <Meet the Dabbler, the Obsessive, and the Hacker>. 一边看一边对号入座享受膝盖中枪的快感, 这种体验还真的不常有. 后面的部分有凑字数嫌疑, 尤其是最后一章都开始上神似法轮功的所谓"身心放松大法"之类的邪教了...

  接受到的最重要的信息: 1. I'm a Dabbler.... 2. Goalless.

  A few points:

  唉其实很简单嘛, 当一件东西和你的生活无缝连接之后, 当然可以做到不断practice还是goalless的, 然后这么10年过后嘿你就是个master了.

  《Mastery》读后感(八):登峰造极的艺术

  这是一本极为深刻的小书,书名叫<Mastery>,一般的译法会译成<掌控>,但这完全失去了原标题的意境,我认为应该把它译为<登峰造极>或<出神入化>。

  这一两年,随时一万小时定律的普及,人们开始对如何掌握一项技能到艺术的境界越来越感兴趣。另外还有本Waitzkin写的<学习的艺术>。前者主要用大量的科学调查讲了一些浅显的道理,我个人认为并没有太多深刻的洞察力,不管是<Talent is overrated>还是<The Talent Code>在我看来都是只看结论就足够的书。而Waitzkin的书把一些简单的道理写得太过玄妙(如划小圈其实就是扎实、递进的学习)。这些是我个人观点,你不必同意,但如果你对这个主题感兴趣,请不要忽略<Mastery>这本书。

  这本书不长,出版于1992年,作者以对运动技能的掌握为切入点,讨论如何才能登峰造极。作者先讨论的是网球,谈到要训练一个顶尖的网球选手,首先需要枯燥的专业训练,对一个成年人来说,要将击球的姿势,跑位全都固定下来,将基本功打扎实,才有可能考虑战略战术问题。这对一个目标性很强的人来说可能是很痛苦的,你可能在前6个月都只能练习姿势和跑位,练习如何移动你的肩膀,臂部和手臂。

  这就突显了作者全书的一个重要思想:登峰造极是一个过程而不是一个结果,在整个过程中间,过于目标导向只会使你失去长期进步的潜力。一旦选择了登峰造极的道路,你就必须放弃短期的利益,放弃对目标的过于执著,和整个追求速效药的世界作对抗。

  从这个角度来反思自己和周围的人,很可能会吓出一些冷汗。我是学计算机的(软件工程系),接触过很多学弟(包括我自己大一大二时),他们对大一大二的基本课程并不重视(数学,算法等),总是避免选一些过于抽象、枯躁的课程(如编译)。我并不认同把这些问题简单地总结为“老师没有让他们意识到这些课程的重要性”--我想他们即使看MIT或是斯坦福的相关课程也会睡着。更重要的是,他们已经难以忍受枯躁,不愿为登峰造极忍受短期利益的缺失。

  本书中谈到,登峰造极的是分一个一个阶段的,每一个阶段都有长期的平台期,在这段平台期你要面对新的不熟悉的内容,通过稳定、长期的训练将它们内化(刻意练习)。只有你将基础的内容内化之后,面对高阶的内容你才能应付自如。这和初学象棋的人不可能有策略是一样的道理--首先得知道基本的走法,然后知道一些简单战术的搭配--不断往上提升组块的抽象程度,当然,要做到这一点,每一个阶段都要做到“内化”是必要条件。我相信学习数学也是一样的道理,很多人都抱怨数学太抽象,没有太直接的实际用途--但惟有内化这些思维方式,你才可能在更高的角度上看待问题,理解更深刻的理论结果。

  第2章是我个人最喜欢的部分,作者谈到登峰造极之路上的三种人--其实或多或少就是我们自己。

  浅尝辄止者(Dabbler): 每投入一个新领域,看一本新书,新工作,新感情都兴奋不已,但从来没有做出深度。他们不能接受平台期,一遇到平台期他们的激情就消失殆尽,于是开始寻找新的领域,新的书,新的感情来重新点燃他们的激情。

  偏执狂(Obsessive):对得到结果很执著,急于通过大量努力来快速提升自己,忽略基本功,寻找捷径,不断地学习具体、高级、直接的技术。同样地不能忍受平台期,一发现自己进步不了,就更加努力地学习。在感情方面,不能忍受平淡,通过不断地制造浪漫来保持高潮。

  骇客(Hacker): 愿意一直待在平台期,常常忽略登峰造极过程中的关键过程,迟到早退,不愿意接受新的挑战。

  这三种人是登峰造极的敌人,也是我们需要时时提醒自己注意的部分。在我的专业领域,我见过太多的浅尝辄止者,他们从来没有完整地看完一本较为困难的理论书籍,但你谈论每个话题,他们都表现出好像知道些什么,因为他们至少看过这些科目中维基百科的第一段话。我见过很多的偏执狂,他们很努力,但他们学到的东西永远不成体系。

  除了深刻的洞察力,我觉得这本书很耐看,像上面的三个比喻在我看来既形象又深刻,分享一段这本书中我觉得最精彩的话吧:

  “Mastery is not about perfection. It’s about a process, a journey. The master is the one who stays on the path day after day, year after year. The master is the one who is willing to try, and fail, and try again, for as long as he or she lives”

  Definition: Mastery is a ever-lasting life-time journey.

  A dabbler will not be consistent, quit right after passion fade away.

  The Obsessive works hard, but always expecting to reap quick and obvious reward, quit after certain time staying on the plateau.

  The Hacker works hard and enjoys the plateau, but will stay on plateau rather than continue pushing the limitation.

  The point is being a dabbler, the obsessive or a hacker will stop one from mastery journey. When applying to life, on different perspectives people may apply different type.

  《Mastery》读后感(十):古老的东方智慧

  最开始在一个豆列中看到这本书,就顺手买来看。

  书很朴素,纸张质量远远没有新近出版的书摸起来那么舒服,用一个前辈的话来说,去书店挑书的时候要多挑那些薄薄的老书,那种书一般是经过多代读者的鉴定而流传至今的好书。

  全书包括后文共176页,加上本身一页的字数就不多,是足以在一天之内就读完的。

  一开始读到内容近半的时候开始觉得内容应该已经看完后边的可以忽略,后来看到后边才觉得其实全书可以省略的部分不多。非运动员和对发展有深度的人际关系不感兴趣的宅们可以忽略部分章节。

  有很多内容在读到的时候有强烈的共鸣感,如Path itself is the destination; Be a lifelong learner; Always be humble, etc. 很难想象一个修习合气道的西方人居然能将古老的东方智慧了解得这么好并且将其实践出来。

  看完全书,觉得对自己帮助很大的有一个就是书中提到不要太在意结果。虽然很多地方都会看到类似的话,但是在这种系统的讲解中刻意的提及还是会让人重新对这句话产生一些认识。还有就是让把练习当做noun而不是verb那一段。后边提到的intentionality那里对思维的utilization也很有趣,不过感觉较难。还有比较震撼的就是最后提到Karate的founder在临终时交代弟子说他要系着白腰带死去,那种对他所看重的事业本身的极致的谦卑和热情,是一种已经被很多东方人忘记的大师的精神。

  不要在意结果,让自己变成修炼本身,宁静,专注地融入,而成就真正的大师。
